Best Backdrop Size for Events & Exhibitions
Choose the right backdrop width based on stand space, audience distance, group photos and the amount of visual coverage you need.
Start by measuring the available width
The first decision is how much clear floor and wall space you actually have. Our 8ft backdrop is approximately 2.4m wide, while the 10ft backdrop is approximately 3m wide.
Best size for smaller exhibition stands
For compact stands, reception areas and conference spaces, the 8ft Backdrop Banner Stand is often the easier fit. It still gives you a substantial branded wall without taking as much horizontal space.
Best size for larger exhibition stands
For a wider stand or a more dominant visual background, the 10ft Backdrop Banner Stand gives you additional width and stronger coverage behind counters, furniture or several people.
Best size for photo areas
The 8ft backdrop works well for individual portraits, couples and smaller groups. The 10ft backdrop is better when group photos are likely or you want more background visible at the sides of the image.
Consider how far away people will view it
In a large exhibition hall, wider displays tend to have more presence from a distance. In tighter rooms, an oversized backdrop can dominate the space unnecessarily.
Think about the artwork as well as the frame
A wider backdrop gives you more room for repeated logos, photography and branded messaging, but the design still needs to remain simple enough to read from a distance. See our Backdrop Artwork Guide UK before preparing the final file.
Should you choose a roller banner instead?
If floor space is tight and you only need a narrow promotional display, one of our roller banners may be more practical. For a full branded wall or photo background, a backdrop is the better fit. See Roller Banner vs Backdrop for a direct comparison.
