A0 vs A1 Poster Size: Which Should You Choose?

A practical comparison of two large-format poster sizes for retail, events, exhibitions and high-visibility displays.

SizeDimensionsTypical use
A1594 × 841mmLarge retail, events, windows, exhibitions
A0841 × 1189mmHigh-impact displays, large venues, major promotional graphics

How much bigger is A0 than A1?

A0 has twice the printable area of A1. That makes it significantly more noticeable from a distance and gives you more room for large headlines, photography and supporting information.

When should you choose A1?

A1 is a strong choice when you need a large poster without taking over an entire display area. It works well in shop windows, reception areas, event venues, exhibition stands and indoor promotional displays.

When is A0 the better choice?

A0 suits situations where maximum visual impact matters. It is useful for large retail spaces, exhibitions, entertainment venues, educational displays and environments where people will see the poster from farther away.

Viewing distance matters

The farther away the audience is, the larger the headline and overall poster should be. An A1 poster can be very effective at normal walking distance. A0 gives you more presence in large open areas or busy venues.

Artwork quality

Larger posters expose low-resolution images more easily, so use the best original artwork available. Our current product guidance recommends 150dpi minimum for A1 and around 100–150dpi for A0 at final size, with vector artwork preferred for logos and text.

Our poster material

Both A0 and A1 posters are printed on waterproof, tear-resistant 170gsm silk coated poster stock with full-colour CMYK print.
